MEMBERS OF THE TYPE FAMILY: Ray Thin, Regular, Black
CONCEPT:
Ray was designed as a teamwork job to go through an experience of a collaborative task without any clients. The goal was to design a heavyweight typeface for general usage with a commercial and advertisement tendency. Our design process was contrary to the common method, which helped us discover many new points. Accordingly, the first weight was Black, then the Regular weight derived from Black version. Ray is a typeface with a strong skeleton, short ascender and descender, serious intonation, and flat surface with sharp corners. It is a modern inspiration from the Naskh script with new proportions.
