CONCEPT:

Noort is an analog serif family inspired by calligraphy from seventeenth-century Dutch maps. Although the Italic kept most of this flavor with its rough-and-fast approach, at some point in the process the main idea shifted to creating a body typeface in which the Roman and the Italic became best friends. Traits such as serifs straddling every stroke, low contrast modulation, large x-height, and ample spacing make Noort suited for 8–9 points. As a result, through a crisp but stable texture in its paragraphs, Noort has skills that allow it to deal optimally with complex typographical environments and thrive in editorial typesetting.
