Board of Directors

The Type Directors Club is run by a board of type enthusiasts with outstanding credentials and an unbelievable drive to help educate about type and lettering, and celebrate typographic excellence in the fields of type design, graphic design, and lettering.


  • Doug Clouse President

    Doug Clouse owns a graphic design business in New York City with Angela Voulangas, called The Graphics Office. Besides running the business, Doug has written and co-written two books on design history and teaches graphic design history at the Fashion Institute of Technology.

  • Paul Carlos Vice President

    Paul Carlos, is co-owner along with Urshula Barbour of Pure+Applied, a multidisciplinary design studio in New York City.
