TDC64 Exhibition in Tokyo
May 22 @ 10:00 am - June 22 @ 7:00 pm
Japan Typography Association and Takeo Paper are currently hosting the “World’s Best Typography” exhibition — the winners of the 64rd Annual Communications Design and 2018 Typeface Design competition of Type Directors Club — in the Takeo Mihoncho Honten Gallery in Tokyo.
This is the 40th year that the JTA began showing the award-winning work, which was selected by an international jury of top designers last January in New York at the Type Directors Club.
The “World’s Best Typography” exhibition includes over 280 selections of winning work from the TDC’s annual international typeface design competition and communication design competition.
The exhibition displays typography in a wide range of categories including books, posters, corporate branding, logos, web graphics, film and TV titles, products, and magazines from many countries including the United States, France, Germany, Japan, Spain, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, the People’s Republic of China, South Korea, and others.
A special feature of the exhibition is the opportunity to experience the power and detail of the graphics, the heft and feel of the packaging, and the exquisite bookbinding and spacing of the editorial designs. Visitors experience the physical presence of the works seen up close, pick up the books, and look through the printed magazines — an experience that photos cannot duplicate.
The exhibition opened in Tokyo on May 22 and continues through June 22. The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.
This TDC64 exhibition is the second stop on the tour as the show travels through Asia.
