The effect in which a backlit, light-on-dark area, such as a text on a sign, seems to glow and therefore seem slightly larger than the actual area.

A setting for a block of text where the first line extends beyond the visual edge of the rest of the text. Also called outdent.

The top edge of a book or magazine.

A large line of text that titles an article in a magazine or book; also called headline or spelled hed.

Of a large initial letter, that it is decorated with figures of people or animals or structures that relate to the contents of the text the initial introduces.
