- demibold (n: 'dE mi boUld)
A weight of letter darkness between medium and semibold.
- deck (n: dEk)
A short area of text set below a headline and above the main text of an article, set in a size usually between that of the headline and text; the deck text is a means of tempting and easing the entry of the reader into the main body of the article.
- descender (n: dE sEn d@r)
The part of a letter, such as gjpqy, that extends below baseline of a Latin, Cyrillic, or Greek letter, and thus below letters that are without projections, such as aeou and the x. Lowercase f might sometimes have a descender, especially if it is an italic style.
- drop shadow (n: 'drAp 'S& do)
A duplicate of an image or text offset behind the image or text to simulate the shadow seen when an object is placed a very small distance from a surface, used to give an illusion of depth.
