Typography 23
The Annual of the Type Directors Club
The TDC Annual 23 is an 8.5x11.25", 288 page, hardbound volume containing the best of type and typography from the year 2001.
The Annual of the year 2001-2002 was designed by Allison WIlliams of design/mw.
Published by HBI, a division of HarperCollins Publishers Inc. of New York, the Annual is distributed in the US and Canada by Watson-Guptill (ISBN 0-06-008148-1), and worldwide by HarperCollins International.
The color Annual contains over 500 full-color illustrations, including the 158 winning selections from 2350 entries into the TDC48 Typography Competition, and the 15 winning selections from 119 entries into the TDC2 2002 Type Design Competition.
Framing the winning entries, the book is filled with tropes on the typographic business - delightfully wry takes on the everyday things that we see in the process of design and production, but that the public never (knowingly) sees. Then, nearly every work is given a full spread to best show the skill and talent that made the juries stand up and select them as representative of the best of typographic design in 2001.
