United Nations Year of Dialogue among Civilizations

This year sees the first type design competition ever conducted by the ATypI (Association Typographique Internationale). Chairman Maxim Zhukov gave the competition the somewhat playful Russian name, bukva:raz!, which means "letter:one!". Bukva:raz! will cover a five-year period: typefaces designed or released between 1 January 1997, and 5 November 2001.
On behalf of the jury of bukva:raz!, the members of the Board of Directors and the President of ATypI I should like to extend my warmest congratulations to those members of this list [ATypI] whose entries have won in the competition. I am deeply grateful to all - members and non-members - who contributed to bukva:raz!
