The Conference :

Situated in the heart of the Mediterranean, Palermo is between two cultures. It is a city that fuses two divergent civilizations, synthesises the exotic East with pragmatic West, and blends the essence of Arabia with the spirit of Europe. For centuries Palermo has been influenced by this fusion and it has evolved a unique visual, verbal and literary vocabulary, which blends of the best — and sometime the worst — of the orient with the occident.

This conference will explore what happens when two cultures meet and the impact this liaison has on culture and communication — graphic and typographic design; letter making; art, cinema, music, architecture, design, photography.

Call for Papers

Speakers are sought from the areas of graphic and typographic design; letter making; art, cinema, music, architecture, design, photography. Anyone involved in these fields either by profession or passion whether in an academic environment, or in industry can apply.
