The First International Competition of Fonts
Granshan 2008

The International Competition Granshan 2008 is held an initiative of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia.

On the October 29, 2006 the National Institute of Standards confirmed a standard of Armenian symbols in the Unicode encoding system, in addition to which a currency symbol for the Armenian dram, a symbol for index numbers and an eternity symbol were added to the existing Unicode range of Armenian symbols.

The Granshan 2008 Competition is held to celebrate the development and introduction of the above mentioned symbols into the Armenian character set.
