Tamaye Perry's talk will be on "Type Illustrations"
Conversation with. . . :
Tamaye Perry previously worked at Ralph Appelbaum and Associates as an art director in charge of environmental graphics for museums like The Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tennessee and an associate art director at Entertainment Weekly in charge of designing cover stories and a few of the previews. At Ralph Appelbaum she learned how to take fonts and design them into perspectives and outlines using the program Fontagrapher creating a family of fonts that she used to look like letterpress type.
Then at Entertainment Weekly she took what she'd learned at Ralph Appelbaum and started to add dingbats and other elements to the type to create more type illustrations. Now working on her own, designing mostly book covers, she designs many projects that are historical or are type-driven.
