About Julian Waters :
Julian Waters is one of the finest and most versatile calligraphers in the U.S., with 30 years experience, Julian is equally at home with pen, brush, ruling pen or computer. Starting in 1979 he studied extensively with the legendary German calligrapher and type designer Hermann Zapf, who later picked him as his successor to teach the summer masterclasses at RIT. Among his many clients are the U.S. Postal Service, the National Geographic Magazine, and many other agencies, institutions and companies. His typeface designs include Waters Titling Pro, a multi-weight family of fonts, issued by Adobe Systems in 1997. He has received awards from the Type Directors Club, Art Directors Club, Print magazine, Graphis and Letter Arts Review, among others. Julian's work has been represented in many international exhibitions and he has had solo shows in Washington DC, Norway and Iceland. He has also been a juror for several international shows. A major exhibition of his work was held at the Sidwell Friends School, where he was also honored as the Rubenstein Memorial Artist in Residence. In 2003, the Washington Calligraphers Guild issued the publication Work by Julian Waters: From Sketch to Final Art.
