We all know the stork had little to do with type's beginnings. But where did it all start? You can finally learn the facts of type by joining American Institute of Graphic Arts Washington DC Chapter at the 12th Annual Design Fair, Design for the Fun of It 12: Where Do Fonts Come From?
Date and Time :
Tuesday 19 April 2005 :: 6:30p.m.–9:00p.m.
Venue :
The Galleria at Lafayette Centre
1155 21st Street NW
Washington DC 20036
The Fair :
It's the 12th year for AIGA DC's design fair, and another chance for non-stop fun. We'll send you kerning through typographic history with games galore, raffle prizes, and great giveways. Browse the booths, interact with designers in games of font-related trivia and scale a wall of type that will put your refrigerator magnet poetry set to shame.
For designers and those with an appreciation for the appearance of the written word, it's like being a kid in a candy store! At Design for the Fun of It 12, you can find out the latest info and pick up great freebies from twenty sponsor booths, including printers, paper companies and other important industry vendors. You'll also meet this year's newly hatched talent—graduating students from the area's top design programs—exhibiting their portfolios. And you have a chance to win the biggest toy of all: our top raffle prize of the 200-font ITC Designer Collection from Fonts.com, valued at $1,000. Lots of other prizes will be awarded throughout the night.
