Calligraphy and heraldic art
13 January Guest speaker: Timothy Noad
Calligrapher Timothy Noad is a Fellow of the Society of Scribes and Illuminators and a Fellow of CLAS (Calligraphy and Lettering Arts Society). He is currently Herald-Painter at The College of Arms, painting and recording new grants of arms.
Tim will talk and show slides about his work.

10 February Guest speaker: Ros Pritchard
Ros Pritchard is a freelance-lettering artist. She works for television and films, making documents as props, whilst handling all kinds of commissioned lettering.
Ros is an Associate member of CLAS and she is currently the Hon. Secretary of Letter Exchange. She will concentrate in her talk on lettering for the cinema.
Japanese Calligraphy
9 March An interactive evening with demonstrations by Izumi Shiratani
Izumi Shiratani is an SLLA member and an Associate member of CLAS. She will demonstrate the handling of the brush in writing Japanese characters; all those present will have the chance participate. There will be a display of books and examples on the subject of the evening, and members/guests are invited to bring their own.
Brush, Wood and Stone
11 May Guest speaker: Philip Surey
Philip Surey worked in the sign industry for ten years prior to embarking on a three year full diploma in lettering at the City & Guilds Art School, where as well as honing his skill with the brush, he learnt to carve in stone and wood. He now practices all three disciplines from his workshop in London. Philip is a member of Letter Exchange. He will talk and show slides about his work.
"Calligraphy heroes"
8 June An interactive evening of discussions on composition and design, coordinated by Lin Kerr
Lin Kerr is an SLLA member and an Associate member of CLAS.
Lin will inspire discussion and critical observation of calligraphic pieces, analysing relationships of design elements, use of space, colour and style of lettering.
All members and guests are strongly invited to bring copies of their 5 favourite calligraphic pieces, for discussion.

28 September Guest speaker: Maggie Berry
Maggie Berry is a member of CLAS and the SSI. Having opened her own marketing consultancy she now focuses on e-marketing, which involves lots of work with web design and structure as well as finding time to pursue her interests in Calligraphy and Photography. On the evening she will tackle the following topics: Do you need a digital camera? Image enhancement. Image manipulation. Printers and printing. Software and computers. Questions and discussion.

Mary Noble is a freelance calligrapher and teaches calligraphy on the Reigate College of Art and Design course. She is a former Chairman of CLAS; she is well known for her brush writing. She will talk and show slides about her work
