The Conference :

In 2004 the annual conference of ATypI is taking place in Prague, Czech Republic. Prague is among the most beautiful European capitals.

Prague is one of the oldest international centres of printing, publishing, and print design. Czech typography is world-famous for its daring innovation, sophistication and originality. The name of the conference refers to the unique place that Prague occupies in the world of both graphic design and ideas.

The conference will focus on the special creative contribution of Central and East European designer world and its relation to international typographic developments. In addition, there will be papers covering many aspects of the creative work of typographic designers worldwide. The conference programme is being developed by František Štorm, the well-known type designer and educator, assisted by Peter Bil'ak, Filip Blazek, Erik Spiekermann, Adam Twardoch, Emil Yakupov and Maxim Zhukov.
