6:45pm Tuesday 18 November 2003
Venue :
Bridewell Hall St Bride Institute Bride Lane (off Fleet Street) London EC4Y 8EE
The Lecture :
Following the recent publication of his biography of Gibbings, Martin Andrews will talk and illustrate the many dimensions of Gibbings' life. The talk will focus on his growing reputation as a wood-engraver after the First World War, the establishing of the Society of Wood-engravers, his years as Director of the Golden Cockerel Press and then his success as a best-selling author with his famous series of travel and river books. Gibbings was a colourful and larger than life character - an adventurer, nudist, naturalist, broadcaster, who lived life to the full.
So, please join us for what promises to be a lively and visually very engaging evening.
Tickets on sale at the door: £5 (to include a glass of wine!) or £3 for concessions.
