APHA 2003 : New York Conference: New Work in Printing History
Dates :
Friday–Sunday, 24–26 October 2003 Venue :
The Grolier Club 47 East 60th Street New York
The Conference :
The American Printing History Association's 2003 conference focuses on recent and innovative research in printing history and the book arts—work that makes use of new methods of study or interpretation, that benefits from newly available primary sources, and that treats overlooked or forgotten persons, techniques, or design elements.
Bringing together scholars, printers, curators, designers, and bibliographers, the series of lectures and visits will be hosted, appropriately, by The Grolier Club, America's oldest bibliophile society.
An exciting schedule of events is planned. Early birds may join us Friday afternoon for a session of papers on the intersections between printing history and bibliography.
The conference continues Friday evening with a keynote address by David Pankow, editor of Printing History and Curator of the Cary Graphic Arts Collection, Rochester Institute of Technology.
Saturday features a day of talks and concludes with a reception and exhibition viewing at the Center for Book Arts.
Those who stay through Sunday are invited to an exclusive tour of the De Vinne Building, led by De Vinne biographer Irene Tichenor, followed by optional brunch in the building's Serafina Restaurant.
