Lettering: what it is and why we do it
Christopher Austin, The South London Lettering Exchange
Christopher will be talking about the role of the creative artist in the production of letterforms on paper, stone, glass and fabric. His talk will be followed by demonstrations of pen work.
Christopher has been a professional practicing calligrapher for 25 years and is a member of the South London Lettering Exchange. The Exchange was established in the late 1990s to bringing together both professional and amateur practitioners of lettering. Their purpose is to education and inform through workshops, exhibitions and the creation of public works.

An exhibition by the South London Lettering Exchange will be open on the evening of the lecture.

Exhibition Dates :
The exhibition runs : 14-25 October 2002, Monday-Friday, 1000 to 1700. There are demonstrations of lettering each lunchtime. From 26 October to 27 November the exhibition is by appointment only.
