Yvonne Diedrich
Yvonne Diedrich was born in Vienna and raised bilingually in a family which is partially rooted in Slovakia, France, Germany and England. Started working as a freelance designer and letter artist in 1994. Had plans to become a painter originally.
The label ydt-fonts was founded by Yvonne Diedrich as an independent foundry for the design and implementation of exclusive typefaces and corporate images.
The main focus of the foundry is directed on type family systems and corporate fonts, aiming to develop new typographic mouldings. Thus her work attempts to utilize typography as an artistic medium in order to create a differential context, as typographic demands are diversifying.
Yvonne Diedrich has designed typefaces for ITC International Typeface Corporation, Letraset Ltd and custom clients. Her work has been published in U&lc, TDC Annual, Type Rules!, as well as others.
The text family ITC Dyadis was released 1998 by ITC International Typeface Corporation. This project gave Yvonne Diedrich the opportunity to work together with Ilene Strizver. In 2000 Letraset released the binary based text family Eplica. The series has been awarded by the Type Directors Club and used by Gail Anderson for TDC Annual Typography 22. Diego Vainesman chose Eplica as the corporate typeface for the TDC newsletter Letterspace. Currently Yvonne Diedrich is working on the launch of her new text family YDT Advena which will be released by ydt-fonts in 2006.
