Mario Hugo: Shapes and Arrangements
I believe there is no more direct form of visual communication than the shapes that compose letters and the beautiful meanings those shapes make when arranged. As designers and illustrators, we are often given the opportunity to imbue and enchant simple words with our own complex interpretations – to respect form, but stretch comprehension taught in search of the proper voice. This talk is a simple reflection on the intimacy of those shapes, my love of stories, and the close relationship words and images share in my work.
Mario Hugo is a New York based artist and designer. Though he spends
an inordinate amount of time in front of his computer, he still feels
most honest with a pencil and two or more sheets of paper. In addition
to working independently, Mario is a founding partner and the creative
director of a boutique agency specializing in artist management, Hugo
& Marie.
